Student Spotlight Awards are given to Williamson County students who placed first in state or national competitions. Each Student Spotlight award winner is recognized before the School Board at their monthly meeting. Listed below are the district's Student Spotlight Award winners for the month of March.
BHS Media Program Wins THSPA Award for Best TV Station
Congratulations to Brentwood High School students who make up WBHS 9. They won the Tennessee High School Press Association Award for Best TV Station. The THSPA awards were held March 4 at Lipscomb University. THSPA promotes excellence in high school student publications. Their teacher is Ronnie Adcock.
Brentwood High Wins THSPA Award for Best Sports Coverage
Congratulations to the Brentwood High School students who make up the junior sports team. They won the Tennessee High School Press Association Award for Best Sports Coverage. The award was given to them for their coverage of the Brentwood vs. Wilson Central football game. The THSPA awards were held March 4 at Lipscomb University. THSPA promotes excellence in high school student publications. Their teacher is Ronnie Adcock.
Brentwood High Wins THSPA Award for Best Sports Show
Congratulations to Brentwood High School students Zach Driver, Hannah Feldhacker, John Anderson, Chloe Connors, Elijah Gonzalez, Haylie Craver and Joey Guarino for winning the Tennessee High School Press Association Award for Best Sports Show. They won the award for a basketball special they produced titled Bruin Primetime. The THSPA awards were held March 4 at Lipscomb University. THSPA promotes excellence in high school student publications. Their teacher is Ronnie Adcock.

Congratulations to Brentwood High School student Marshall Travioli for winning the Tennessee High School Press Association Award for Best Commercial. The THSPA awards were held March 4 at Lipscomb University. THSPA promotes excellence in high school student publications.
Marshall won the top prize for his commercial titled Sharpie. His teacher at Brentwood High School is Ronnie Adcock.
Fairview Middle School Student Wins Speech Contest
Fairview Middle School eighth grader Trey Boone won first place at this year's Tennessee Association of Student Councils State Convention Speech Contest.
Trey delivered his speech to an auditorium filled with more than 700 people and received a standing ovation from the crowd at the conclusion of the speech. The theme of his speech was Live Every Day Like It's Game Day.
According to his teachers, Trey carries himself each day with great enthusiasm and passion for his fellow students and his school. His teacher is Mary Justus.
Franklin High Students Named to Honor Band of America
Franklin High School students Sam Stubblefield, Cohin Ruble and Hannah Cavender were named to the 2013 Honor Band of America. Students must audition for the Honor Band of America, which is considered one of the nation’s finest student concert honor bands. Their band director is David Aydelott.

Franklin High School students Sam Stubblefield and Hannah Cavender were named to All-State Band. Their band director is David Aydelott.
Franklin Student Named to Honor Orchestra of America
Congratulations to Franklin High School student Brian Curl for being named to the Honor Orchestra of America. His band director is David Aydelott.
Franklin High Student Wins State DECA Award
Franklin High School Senior Taylor Ware won first place in Sports and Entertainment Marketing at the state DECA competition. She will represent Franklin High at the National DECA Conference April 23-28. Her teacher at FHS is Tunisha Hobson.

Franklin High School Senior Seth Livingston won first place in Quick Serve Restaurant Management at the state DECA competition. He will represent Franklin High at the National DECA Conference April 23-28. His teacher a FHS is Tunisha Hobson.
Independence High Student Wins THSPA Award for Best Reporter
Independence High School junior Chase Lutz won the Tennessee High School Press Association Award for Best Reporter. The THSPA awards were held March 4 at Lipscomb University. THSPA promotes excellence in high school student publications. His teacher is Matt Balzer.
Independence High Student Wins National American Vision Award
Independence High School senior Charlotte LaCroix has been named the winner of the National Scholastic Art & Writing Competition's American Vision Award. She won the award for her photograph titled Remember When... Charlotte's teacher is Stephanie Prewitt.
Page High Students Win State DECA Award
Page High School students Caleb Green, Dakota Love and Abby Brooks won first place in Advertising Representatives and Promotional Campaign at the State DECA competition. Their teacher is Jackie Stevens.

Page High School students John Henry Ganser, Ryan Holguin and Taylor Elliott won first place in Entrepreneurship Innovation Business at the State DECA competition. Their teacher is Jackie Stevens.

Ravenwood Wrestler Wins State Title
Ravenwood High School Freshman Tailor Stole won the 2013 TSSAA State Girls' Wrestling Championship in the 138 pound division. Tailor is the first female member of the Ravenwood wrestling team. Her coach is Josh Peck.

Ravenwood High School Senior Jacob Freeman is the 2013 TSSAA State Wrestling Champion in the 145 pound division. Jacob has wrestled all four years at Ravenwood. His coach is Josh Peck.
RHS Student Wins TN HOSA Award
Ravenwood High School Student Niman Mann won first place in Extemporaneous Speaking at the Tennessee HOSA Conference. She will advance to the national competition this summer.

Summit High Student Wins TN HOSA Award
Summit High School Student Faith Holmes won first place in Medical Terminology at the Tennessee HOSA Conference. She will advance to the national competition this summer.

Summit High Wins State Science Bowl
Summit High School won first place at this year's Tennessee High School Science Bowl. The team is comprised of Anthony Kupecz, Lauren Flader, Cassidy Roberts, Josh Allen and Camden McNeely. They are coached by science teacher Ryan Lowry. The team will be awarded an all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. to compete at the national competition April 25-29.
