Student Art on Display at Juvenile Justice Center

Published January 10, 2013

The mood inside the Williamson County Juvenile Justice Center is a little brighter these days thanks to the help of two Williamson County students.

In December, Walnut Grove Elementary School Students Caroline Bourne and Anna Claire Bourne were chosen to have their artwork displayed in the justice center lobby.

Originally, the sisters won a private art lesson in a fundraiser for the school, but after their increased enthusiasm, Walnut Grove Art Teacher Janet Taylor offered them an additional project that would benefit the community.

"I love having my students' artwork displayed," said Taylor. "I think this is a very worthy project and the artists were thrilled to donate their work to the justice center.

Employees at the justice center agree, saying the artwork adds color and excitement to a place that was in need of it.

"We are so thankful to Walnut Grove," said Youth Service Officer Zannie Martin. "The artwork is perfect and it looks so beautiful in our lobby."
