School Receives Grant for Vegetable Garden
Published May 3, 2013
Grassland Elementary School's new vegetable garden just got a little greener thanks to a $2,000 grant from the Whole Kids Foundation.
The garden, which was created earlier this spring, is a collaborative effort between parents, teachers and students. Complete with lettuce, carrots, spinach and other veggies, the garden will be used to teach students about life cycles and biology, while also giving them valuable lessons about nutrition.
The Whole Kids Foundation is a charitable organization that works with schools and educators to provide children access to healthier choices. The $2,000 grant will be used to enhance and maintain the garden for years to come.
