The purpose of this section is to answer any questions parents, teachers or community members might have regarding the school district and to set the record straight in regards to any rumors that might be circulating.

If you have a question or have heard a rumor that you would like for us to address, simply SEND US your questions and we will respond to them in upcoming issues of IN FOCUS. Below are some of the questions we have received since our last issue.

I try to volunteer frequently and attend as many of the hosted events as possible at our school. I stay at home with a younger sibling, so my childcare resources are limited for my younger child during the business day.

Does WCS have an official policy for younger siblings to be in attendance at school gatherings? Can non-school-age siblings eat lunch with a parent when visiting a student? Can younger siblings attend assemblies/performances/events where parents have been invited that happen during school hours, or must younger siblings’ participation be limited to after-school events? There has been some confusion at our school.

This is generally a site based decision. Siblings are welcome at school-wide assemblies, school–wide programs and events that are open to the public. That includes events that happen during the academic day. However, siblings are not allowed at classroom events, classroom parties, field days` events, etc. These activities/events are just for the students.

Parents and siblings are welcome to join students for lunch. Sometimes there can be a lack of adequate seating and it can be hard to accommodate everyone, but most schools try to make it work.

Parents may attend classroom events/activities if invited, but siblings, as a general rule, are not allowed. Parents attending field day events serve as volunteers.

Williamson County Schools parent volunteers are not allowed to bring their children with them while they are working as volunteers in our buildings.
