Rumor Mill-5377

Published April 4, 2013

The purpose of this section is to answer any questions parents, teachers or community members might have regarding the school district and to set the record straight in regards to any rumors that might be circulating.

If you have a question or have heard a rumor that you would like for us to address, simply SEND US your questions and we will respond to them in upcoming issues of IN FOCUS. Below are some of the questions we have received since our last issue.

There is a rumor that the next high school will have an artificial turf surface. If that is true, will all the high schools get this new type of surface?

There has been no discussion regarding artificial turf at any of our high schools and the WCS Facilities and Construction Department has not budgeted for such an expense.

Apparently, Spring Station Middle School will not be observing Power Mondays in May even though it is my understanding from IN FOCUS that the high schools will be. Can you please help clear up the confusion?

Middle schools will not observe Power Mondays during the month of May; whereas high schools have been given the option of whether they choose to observe Power Mondays in May. Below is a list of high schools and their plans for Power Monday during the month of May.

  • Brentwood: No Power Mondays in May
  • Centennial: Will observe Power Mondays May 6 and May 13
  • Fairview: Will only observe Power Monday May 6
  • Franklin: No Power Mondays in May
  • Independence: No Power Mondays in May
  • Page: Will only observe Power Monday May 13
  • Ravenwood: Will only observe Power Monday May 6
  • Summit: Will only observe Power Monday May 13
