If you have a question or have heard a rumor that you would like for us to address, simply SEND US your questions and we will respond to them in upcoming issues of IN FOCUS. Below are some of the questions we have received since our last issue.
I saw where the County Commission approved funding this month for construction of auditoriums at Brentwood High, Centennial High, Fairview Middle and Woodland Middle but there was no mention of the proposed Nolensville area high school or K-8 school. Does that mean there will be a delay in opening these two schools? The last I heard, they were scheduled to open in time for the 2015-16 school year.
The northeast high school projected opening remains on the School Board's Five Year Capital Outlay Plan as the fall of 2015. The Commission has funded purchase of the land, but we do not have at this time funding for construction. Construction of a high school takes about 1.5 years, so actual construction would need to begin about January of 2014 if the school is to open in the Fall of 2015. Other than funding, school capacities and growth are the most significant factors in scheduling new school openings. Growth in the northeast part of the county over the next year and a half will greatly influence this project.
