Ravenwood Students Pass Certified Nursing Exam

Fifteen Ravenwood High School students are now qualified to be certified nursing assistants. The students recently passed the State of Tennessee's Certified Nursing Assistant exam.
“The nursing class is an honors course where students do a combination of classwork, skills and clinical experience,” said RHS Teacher Tiffany Hyde. “This is the fourth year the nursing program has been at Ravenwood High School, and we've had 100 percent of all four classes take the CNA exam as a requirement of the course.”
To pass the class, the students had to learn 27 basic patient skills. Students also had to do 100 hours of class and clinical time, as well as visit NHC Cool Springs twice a week to perform basic patient skills.
“In the spring, the students spent a day at Williamson Medical Center for observation in CCU, ER, OR, Cath Lab, Same Day Surgery, Recovery and Holding Rooms and Radiology as part of their clinical experience,” said Hyde. “They also help take care of patients on the four medical-surgical floors as well.”
After passing the CNA exam, each student received a medical pin called a Caduceus. The Caduceus is a medical insignia that represents the selfless nature of preserving life and healing in healthcare.
