Published May 31, 2013

Page High School Principal Dr. Andrea Anthony has been selected by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) as their Tennessee High School Principal of the Year for 2013.

The Metlife/NASSP program honors secondary school principals who have succeeded in providing high-quality learning opportunities for students as well as demonstrating exemplary contributions to the profession. Each year, one middle school and one high school principal is chosen from each state.

"It is truly an honor to be recognized as the NASSP Principal of the Year for Tennessee,” said Anthony. “It is also a privilege to work where we have exemplary programming that maximizes each student’s development; effective teachers who are experts in their areas and who build relationships with students; and excellent partnerships with parents and community members who support and promote our school’s goals.”

Dr. Anthony has served as the principal at Page High School for the past 10 years. She will represent Tennessee and Williamson County in the National Principals Institute this September in Washington D.C., where she will have the opportunity to team up with other top principals from around the country to work on national issues such as changes to Common Core and nationwide assessment.

Anthony has also qualified to be chosen for The National Principal of the year award and receive a $5,000 grant. The top four finalists receive a $1,500 grant. The winners will be announced at the forum.
