Independence Show Choir Wins Competition

The Independence High School Declaration Singers won the Grand Championship for the second year in a row at the Atlanta Music Festival Showcase.

The Declarations Singers received a score of 99.5 percent, which was the highest among the 61 vocal groups from the around the nation who competed at this year's event.

The choir also won a Tenor Section Award and a Best Instrumental Combo Award. In addition, trophies were given to guitarists Nick Elder and Michael Meadows and drummer Sam Emery. The Declaration Singers are under the direction of MaryLee Atenhan.
