Hillsboro Band Performs in New Auditorium

Published December 13, 2012

The Hillsboro School Band recently hosted their annual Winter Concert. This year's event was extra special since it marked the band’s debut performance in the new Hillsboro Performing Arts Center, which was completed in early November.

“The debut performance in our new HPAC was spectacular," said Band Director Cameron Gish. "It was really great to have a new space that is designed for performances such as this. The LED lights, on-stage lights and new sound system created a fantastic environment for our concert. The students loved playing in the auditorium and were excited to be the first band students to perform in the Hillsboro Performing Arts Center.”

Both performances were packed, with nearly 400 guests attending. The crowd was entertained by the sixth grade band and the seventh and eighth grade band, both of which performed seasonal holiday favorites. The sixth grade band includes 36 students, while the seventh and eighth grade band includes 52 students.

The band program also boasts a jazz band and percussion ensemble, which meet regularly in the spring semester. The total band enrollment at Hillsboro School exceeds 90 students and represents over 30 percent of the middle school population.
