Franklin High School received a $4,500 Tennessee High Schools That Work Implementation Grant from the Division of Career and Technical Education for the 2013-14 school year.
“We are using the money to enhance our advisory program for the Freshman Academy,” said Franklin High Assistant Principal Shane Pantall. “The money will also go toward paying for several Freshman Academy teachers to attend the High Schools That Work conference this summer.”
Franklin High School's Freshman Academy is a program that's designed to ensure the academic success of all ninth graders. The Academy strives to promote a sense of community and create a positive learning environment that meets the social, emotional and academic needs of all ninth grade students.
By improving the Freshmen Academy, administrators hope to increase attendance rates and test scores while reducing tardiness, failure rates and discipline referrals.
