Franklin High Event Aimed at Keeping Students Safe
Published April 4, 2013
Local law enforcement will unite with Williamson County Schools April 19 to announce a unified plan aimed at keeping local high school students safe this spring.
This time of year is filled with monumental milestones like prom and graduation; but too often tragedy strikes. That's why police leaders are joining forces in an effort to prevent alcohol or drug-related tragedies from happening here at home.
The scheduled announcement will take place Friday, April 19 at Franklin High School. Immediately following the announcement, Franklin Police officers will give FHS juniors and seniors the opportunity to drive a golf cart obstacle course while wearing goggles designed to replicate impairment. The goal is to give teen drivers an idea of just how dangerous impaired driving is.
“Drug use and the underage consumption of alcohol is illegal, and inherently dangerous,” said Franklin Police Chief David Rahinsky. “One bad decision often leads to another, and an impaired teen behind the wheel of a car could end up changing their life, or someone else’s – forever.”
