Fairview Students Lend a Helping Hand

Students in the Fairview area are learning about the importance of helping others. Both Fairview Elementary and Westwood Elementary schools participated in recent food drives, collecting nearly 9,000 food items for people in need.
Fairview Elementary students collected 5,800 items, while students at Westwood collected approximately 3,000 items. Parents, students and staff then boxed the items and delivered them to an organization called Helping Hands, which provides food and clothing to people living in the Fairview community.
Shari Lewis works with Helping Hands and says the donations couldn't have come at a better time. "We were strapped," said Lewis. "We had one can of corn left on the shelf so this donation has really overwhelmed us. We're so thankful."
