BYOT Teacher Leader Training
Published August 2, 2012
More than 200 Williamson County educators recently began a year-long professional development program that's designed to help them become experts in the field of BYOT.
The program, called BYOT Teacher Leader Training, includes four classroom teachers from each elementary school and five teachers from each middle and high school. These educators will participate in professional learning activities every month and support training for others in their buildings.
"The goal of this training is to design, develop, evaluate and utilize authentic learning experiences and assessments," said Instructional Technology Coordinator Belinda Moss. "We want to incorporate 21st century tools and resources to maximize content learning in support of the district scope and sequence."
Teachers will also learn to work collaboratively and exhibit leadership in their school by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources for learning.
The sessions, which began July 30, are supported by Verizon Foundation's $105,000 grant to assist the BYOT initiative.
