Fairview High Band Shines at Recent Competitions

The Fairview High School Marching Band competed at the Lebanon High School Blue Devil Invitational on September 29. They won the following awards:

*1st place band class 1A
*1st place color guard
*3rd place percussion
*3rd place field commander

The Fairview High Marching Band was also recognized with the following awards at the Bandapalooza competition October 6 in Portland:

*2nd place band White class
*3rd place percussion

Independence Band Garners Numerous Awards

The Independence High School Marching Band wowed the judges at a recent competition in Dyersburg. IHS won numerous awards at the Godsey Memorial Classic including:

*first place in class, division and overall
*first place percussion in class, division and overall
*first place soloists for the day
*first place brass for the day
*first place band in class and division
*first place Tennessee band
*Overall Grand Champion

Summit High Band Has Strong Showing in First Competition of Year

The Summit High School Marching Band placed second in their class October 6 at the Bandapalooza competition in Portland. This was the first competition of the year for the band and only the third in school history.

WCS Communications Specialist Receives National Recognition

Williamson County Schools Communications Specialist Cory Mason has earned the 35 Under 35 award for 2012 by the National School Public Relations Association.

This award is given to the top 35 school public relations professionals in the country under the age of 35. According to NSPRA officials, Mason was selected for this honor for demonstrating excellence and leadership early in his school public relations career.
