Centennial High Band Honored at Recent Competition
Congratulations to the Centennial High School Marching Band for their outstanding performance at the LAX Competition October 6 at Antioch High School. Centennial was presented with Best Color Guard in Class, Best Visual Performance in Class and 1st in Class.
Centennial Athletes Set School Record in 5K
Centennial High School students Eric Downham and Brady Bove (pictured below) recently set a new school record in the 5K run. While competing in Alabama, Downham ran 17:08 to finish eighth out of 364 runners. Bove, a freshman, ran a time of 19:58 to finish tenth overall out of 304 female runners.
Centennial Students to Attend TN Leadership Seminar
Congratulations to Centennial High School sophomores Jake Cannon and Molly Wells on being selected to attend the Tennessee Leadership Seminar November 9-11 at Camp Garner Creek in Dickson.
The Tennessee Leadership Seminar is designed to promote, provide, inspire and develop leadership skills in Tennessee high school sophomores and juniors. Students from across the state are chosen to attend based on their personal integrity, desire to build community and pursuit of excellence.
Fairview High Student Wins $3,000 American Red Cross Scholarship
The American Red Cross is proud to announce Fairview High School Senior Sidney Ketchum is the recipient of the $3,000 Youth Leadership Award Scholarship.
During the summer of 2012, Sidney was nominated to be the blood drive coordinator for a blood drive to be held at Fairview High School on July 31. Sidney built a network of friends to help her promote the blood drive. The goal was to get 25 donors in the door, but Sidney’s efforts paid off and 37 successful blood donations were collected from the drive. Because each pint has the potential to help save up to three lives, around 111 patients may have directly benefited from Sidney’s efforts.
Franklin High Educator Named Tennessee Titans Teacher of the Week
Franklin High School Broadcasting Teacher Patrick Nichols was recently named the Tennessee Titans Teacher of the Week.
Nichols will receive $400 in schools supplies from American Paper & Twine Co. and Sharpie and Expo products, a commemorative award and name recognition on Titans Radio.
Nichols is also in the running to be selected as the Titans Teacher of the Year which will be decided in December.
The winner of this award will receive $800 in school supplies, a commemorative award, four tickets to the Titans-Jacksonville football game at LP Field December 30, hotel accommodations, transportation, name recognition on Titans Radio and a live award ceremony on the field during the game.
Pearre Creek Announces Winners of NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Contest
Forty-nine students in grades one through five recently competed in the annual NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Contest at Pearre Creek Elementary School.
Each student was allowed one punt, one pass and one kick. Student’s received their total score based on both distance and accuracy.
The following students finished first in their age group and will compete against children from across the state at the Sectional Competition October 20 at Baptist Sports Park in Nashville.

Ravenwood Forensics Team Wins Big in Portland
The Ravenwood Forensics Team has plenty to celebrate following their first tournament of the year in Portland. RHS won the first place Sweepstakes trophy and had many individual victories as well. Out of 56 entries, 24 of those made it to the finals. Out of those who made it to the finals, 13 placed in the top three.

Summit High School Golfer Makes School History
Summit High School student Anna Horn recently became the first golfer in school history to qualify for the state tournament. Horn shot a career best 88 and placed fourth in the region tournament, which qualified her for the state competition.
Woodland Middle Teams win District Tennis Titles
Congratulations to the Woodland Middle School boys and girls tennis teams for winning the district tennis titles. Julie Wasack won 8-0. Katie Dewald and Emily Stone won 8-1. Jeffrey Dewald, Hayes Canupp, and doubles team Alec Yates/Henrik Hahamyan won 8-2. Jasmine Puria/Sammi Fogelberg won 8-3, and Stefan Antic/Clay Lamb won 8-5.
