ACT results are in and Williamson County Schools recorded the highest composite average in the history of the district.  WCS posted an ACT composite score of 23.1 in 2012, which is well above the state average of 19.7.  Williamson County Schools also outscored the national average which was 21.1.

"I am so proud of the class of 2012," said Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. "The efforts of our teachers, students and parents continue to pay off as we work toward our School Board goal of achieving a district wide average composite score of 24 on the ACT for each senior class."

Brentwood High School posted the highest average of any Williamson County high school with a 25.1.  Fairview improved the most, going from a 19.9 in 2011 to a 21.0 in 2012.  Centennial, Franklin, Independence and Middle College high schools also improved upon last year's scores.

In addition, WCS students set high marks in regards to college and career readiness benchmarks, which are target scores in each of the four subject areas that suggest a higher probability of success in college entry-level courses.

"Thiry-five percent of the district's graduating class were identified as having met all four benchmarks," said WCS Assessment Analyst Kevin Deck.  "That is impressive when compared to the national average of 25 percent and the state average of 16 percent."
