2012-13 Employees of the Year

Williamson County Schools honored its 2012-13 Employees of the Year February 5 at a special ceremony in Franklin.
Teachers of the Year
Each school selected a teacher to be recognized, and from these, the district selected a system-wide Teacher of the Year at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

This year's Elementary School Teacher of the Year is Walnut Grove Teacher Karen Wight. Wight teaches third grade at Walnut Grove and says she is truly humbled by this award.
"I am so honored to be the Elementary Teacher of the Year for Williamson County Schools," said Wight. "I am a member of a fantastic group of teachers at Walnut Grove, who strive to meet every child’s needs on a daily basis."
Fairview Middle School Teacher Kathy Stevens was selected as Middle School Teacher of the Year. She teaches special education and says she feels fortunate to work with such an amazing staff at Fairview Middle School.
"I am so honored to be selected as the Middle School Teacher of the Year," said Stevens. "The students, administration, faculty and staff I work with make it a pleasure to come to school every day."
Page High School Teacher Math Laurie Mauldin was chosen as the High School Teacher of the Year. Having graduated from Page High School herself, Mauldin says she feels blessed to represent such a wonderful school.
"I am so lucky to be part of such an incredibly rewarding profession and to work in the very best county with the most inspiring students in the world," said Mauldin. "Thank you to my friends and family at Page and to our district for bestowing this incredible honor to me."
The system-wide Teachers of the Year were selected by committees with membership guidelines established by the State. They will be eligible to receive regional honors which will be announced in the spring. If they are selected in the region, they will be eligible for statewide honors. The State's Teachers of the Year will be announced in the fall.
Classified Employees of Year
The district also honored its Classified Employees of the Year, which include everyone from teacher assistants to maintenance workers. Employees were nominated for the honor by their individual school or department.
This year's winners are College Grove Elementary School Bookkeeper Janie Rakes, Page Middle School Special Education Teacher Pam Ashworth and Page High School Cafe Manager Lisa Burke.
