WKRN, News 2 has made a generous donation to Summit High School's media production program. The station recently donated its news set to the school after teacher Kris Smith made a simple phone call.
The school showed its appreciation for the donation valued in the tens of thousands of dollars on Friday, January 20 by presenting the station with a plaque.
“I don’t know that the enormity of News 2’s generosity can be fully realized,” said Summit Principal Dr. Charles Farmer. “To provide us with their “retired” set is like icing on the cake to an already amazing media production setup. Our kids are appreciative of the opportunities afforded them by organizations like News 2. We are extremely thankful to have partnered with them.”
General Manager Stan Knott, Station Manager and News Director Matthew Zelkind, Director of Programming and Community Affairs Michelle Dube and Photojournalist Hector Gardea visited the set, answered student questions and offered advice on entering the media field.
