Listed below are the district's Student Spotlight Award winners for the month of February. Student Spotlight Awards are given to Williamson County students who placed first in state or national competitions.
Media Production Class
BRENTWOOD HIGH
The Brentwood High School Media Production Class won first place in the Best Television Station category at the Tennessee High School Press Association Awards. Their teacher is Ronnie Adcock.
BHS Media Sports Team
BRENTWOOD HIGH
The Brentwood High School Media Production Sports Team won first place for Best Live Sports Coverage at the Tennessee High School Press Association Awards. Their teacher is Ronnie Adcock.
Zach Madell, Grayson Propst, Danielle Wilson and Josh Jirjis
BRENTWOOD HIGH
Brentwood High School students Zach Madell, Grayson Propst, Danielle Wilson and Josh Jirjis won first place in the Best Short Feature category at the Tennessee High School Press Association Awards. Their teacher is Ronnie Adcock.
Zach Driver and John Anderson
BRENTWOOD HIGH
Brentwood High School students Zach Driver and John Anderson won first place in the Best News Story category at the Tennessee High School Press Association Awards. Their teacher is Ronnie Adcock.
Michael Zoorob
BRENTWOOD HIGH
Brentwood High School student Michael Zoorob recently won the Tennessee National Forensic League Student of the Year award and will represent Tennessee in the national competition. His teacher is Harriet Medlin.
Rachel Woods
CENTENNIAL HIGH
Centennial High School student Rachel Woods won first place at the Regional Branch of the National Shakespeare Competition for the second year in a row. She will receive an all-expense-paid trip to New York City to compete at the national competition. Her teacher is Kesha Tant.
Parker Smith
CENTENNIAL HIGH
Centennial High School student Parker Smith won the TSSAA Wrestling State Championship for the 152 lb. class. His coach is Matthew Becker.

John Shrader
FRANKLIN HIGH

Franklin High School student John Shrader won the TSSAA Wrestling State Championship for the 182 lb. weight class. His coach is Charles Gillespie.
Austin Woods
FRANKLIN HIGH
Franklin High School student Austin Woods won the TSSAA Wrestling State Championship for the 138 lb. weight class. His coach is Charles Gillespie.
Kendall Barnett
INDEPENDENCE HIGH
Independence High School student Kendall Barnett won the TSSAA Wrestling State Championship in the 130 lb. weight class. Her coach is Jared Grindstaff.
Nick Lotz
INDEPENDENCE HIGH
Independence High School student Nick Lotz won the state competition of the American Legion High School Oratorical contest. He will now represent Tennessee in the national contest April 13-15 in Indianapolis. His teacher is Jackie Zigelsky.

McCoy Newberg
INDEPENDENCE HIGH

Independence High School student McCoy Newberg won the TSSAA Wrestling State Championship in the 170 lb. weight class. His coach is Jared Grindstaff.
Rachel Savage
INDEPENDENCE HIGH
Independence High School student Rachel Savage won the TSSAA Wrestling State Championship in the 112 lb. weight class. Her coach is Jared Grindstaff.
RHS Forensics Team
RAVENWOOD HIGH
The Ravenwood High School Forensics Team recently received the National Forensics League’s Leading Chapter Award. This award is based upon student participation and is the highest honor NFL can bestow upon a chapter. Their coach is coached by Kelly Dyun.

Ravenwood High School students Tate Janasek, Lindsey Kirkland and John Michael Sisk won first place in the Public Service Announcement category at the Tennessee High School Press Association Awards. Their teacher is Laura Faber.
Josh Beene

Ravenwood High School student Josh Beene won first place in the category of Best Videographer at the Tennessee High School Press Association awards. His teacher is Laura Faber.
Danielle Maeng
RAVENWOOD HIGH
Ravenwood High School student Danielle Maeng was selected to be a member of the National Honor Band of America, which is one of the highest accomplishments for band students. Danielle plays the flute. Her band director is Mark Kinzer.
Seth Phillips
RAVENWOOD HIGH
Ravenwood High School student Seth Phillips was selected to be a member of the National Honor Band of America, which is one of the highest accomplishments for band students. Seth is a percussionist. His band director is Mark Kinzer.
