Published June 7, 2012

Centennial High Assistant Principal Marlena Gross-Taylor has been named the new principal at Heritage Middle School. She will replace Dr. Mary Gist who has accepted the Director of Middle Schools position in Clarksville-Montgomery County.

“Marlena is a rising star in our district and she has proven herself already as an administrative leader,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. “I know she will accomplish great things for Heritage.”

Gross-Taylor began her career in education in 2001, and she has been with Williamson County Schools for two years. Prior to that time, she was an administrator and Title I facilitator in Maury County for two years, and she has seven years of teaching experience at the middle school level in language arts, social studies and math. She is looking forward to the return to middle school.

“It is an honor to join the Heritage community in this capacity,” said Gross-Taylor. “I am committed to the academic growth of every child, and I will work very hard to ensure all students have a positive and rewarding learning experience.”

Gross-Taylor earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology and received her teaching certification from Louisiana State University. She earned her Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration from Jones International University.

She will officially begin her new role on July 1.
