Nashville Young Writers Workshop

More than a dozen Williamson County high school students recently spent their Saturday exploring the world of the written word at the 2012 Nashville Young Writers Workshop. This annual event gives students in grades 9 through 12 a chance to collaborate and share their work with others who have a passion for writing.
Seventeen students from six Williamson County high schools were among those at this year's workshop which was held February 4 at Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet School in Nashville.
Some of the topics included poetry, fiction, screenwriting and journalism. Those who attended say the experience gave them a chance to connect with others and explore new directions in their writing.
"It felt wonderful being around the other writers," said Independence High School Junior Kayla Balda. "Not only was I able to gain new inspirational ideas, but it was nice to be part of this special group."
