More Schools Join Breakfast Program
Published January 12, 2012
Enjoying a nutritious breakfast at school is now easier than ever for thousands of Williamson County students. That's because the WCS Food Service Department is working hard to increase the number of schools that participate in the National School Breakfast Program. "Three years ago we only had five schools operating the National School Breakfast Program," said WCS Food Service Director James Remete. "As of this year, we have expanded that number to 20 schools." |

The National School Breakfast Program offers all children, regardless of their economic status, a critical jump start at the beginning of each day. Studies show eating breakfast can help improve math, reading and standardized test scores, which is one reason why district leaders are committed to this effort. "According to what we've seen so far this year, I project that we will have served over 50,000 more breakfasts than we did last year," said Remete. "Our ultimate goal is to have every school on the National School Breakfast Program." Listed below are the Williamson County schools that participate in the National School Breakfast Program. |
