Letter to Parents Regarding BYOT

Published May 24, 2012

Dear Parents,

Earlier this year Williamson County Schools announced the implementation of Bring Your Own Technology, or BYOT, in grades 3-12 beginning in August, 2012.  ln this letter I committed to follow-up with you again regarding devices and their selection.  While students will not be required to bring devices to school, some families asked for guidance about possible technology purchases.  At the time of the announcement, I recommended that you wait for more information before making any purchases.

I'm proud to direct you to the BYOT page on our WCS Website.  There you can learn about the district's BYOT implementation plans and connect with our certified partner vendors.  These partners have been trained to guide you in selecting the right device for your child's needs.  In addition, several are offering special incentives, and we've included information about those as well.  Just go to the Williamson County School's website at www.wcs.edu and look for the BYOT logo.

I'm excited about the learning opportunities ahead for our students. I look forward to sharing our progress with BYOT.

Keep reading IN FOCUS throughout the summer for the latest information regarding the district's BYOT initiative.
