City of Fairview Makes BYOT Announcement

Published May 24, 2012

The Fairview Board of Commissioners is helping put technology into the hands of students.  At its May 17 meeting, the group voted to support the school district’s BYOT initiative by giving $81,000 to the four area schools for the purchase of devices.  Fairview Elementary, Westwood Elementary, Fairview Middle and Fairview High will each receive a portion of the funds.

Fairview Mayor and Fairview Chamber of Commerce President Beverly Totty said that the cooperation between the school principals, PTO leaders, elected officials  and business community has been remarkable.

“The leaders of Fairview unanimously support our children and our local schools,” said Totty.  “We wanted to make sure our students have the tools they need to be competitive.”

The Fairview budget will be approved in July.
