Chapman's Retreat Unveils New Community Garden
Published May 10, 2012
Chapman's Retreat Elementary School in Spring Hill is now home to a vegetable garden that's the first of its kind in the county. Administrators held a ribbon cutting ceremony May 10 for the school's new community garden.
Each student at the school gets to grow their own plant in the garden, which includes vegetables, herbs, a butterfly garden and a worm bin. The school is partnering with a local food pantry so that the vegetables grown over the summer can be used to feed families in need.
Be sure to check out the May 24 issue of IN FOCUS for a video about the garden.
