INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL

Congratulations to the Independence High School Declaration Singers for receiving the Grand Champion Sweepstakes Award at this year's Music Show Festivals competition.  This award is given to the highest scoring ensemble at this year's event in Atlanta.  This is actually the second year in a row that the Declaration Singers have won this prestigious award.


PAGE HIGH SCHOOL

Congratulations to the nine Page High School students who competed at the 2012 National Technology Student Association Conference.  They include Alec Persh who placed sixth in CAD 2D, Architecture and Chase Moon who placed ninth in Flight Endurance.  In addition, the Structural Engineering team of Wilson Cochran and Grant Santilli placed 14th.  Other Page High competitors included Jaymon Gonzales, Austin Kiger, Brock Bolton, Carson Stafford and Jacob Albert.


WCS STUDENTS ARTISTS

Congratulations to the four Williamson County students whose artwork will be featured in the Young Tennessee Artists exhibition at the Frist Center.  The exhibit will be held from November 2 through April 21 and showcase a selection of the finest artworks created in AP and IB Studio Art programs across the state.  Thirty-four drawings, paintings, photographs and mixed-media works were chosen from over 800 hundred submissions statewide, including pieces from the four WCS students listed below.

  • Alli Taylor, Ravenwood High

HOT SHOTS JUMPROPE TEAM

Congratulations to the Hot Shots jumprope team, which is comprised of students from Hunters Bend Elementary, Grassland Middle, Page Middle and Franklin High schools, for their performance at the USA jumprope national competition in Long Beach, California.  Competing against teams from across the United States, Australia and Canada, the Hot Shots placed in the top 10 in two of the four team speed relay events. 

Among the jumpers who competed were Brooke Harden, Alexis Burgos, Allison Bumm and Rachel Calhoun from Franklin High; McCallie Miller, Sarah Harden, Hayley Welch and Kathryn Hallock from Grassland Middle; Jordan Kerrigan from Page Middle; and Jack Heimendinger, Cara Moyers, Sarah Kathryn Smith and Jacob Weatherford from Hunters Bend.
