Congratulations to Bethesda Elementary School student Caleb Keller.  He was named Bethesda Elementary School’s Top AR Reader for the 2011-2012 school year with 415 points.

FRANKLIN HIGH SCHOOL

Congratulations to the 31 Franklin High School students in Angie Cathey's Early Childhood Education Careers program who were recently presented with Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance (TECTA) Orientation Certificates.  This certificate represents 90 hours of training toward the Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate required by most licensed child care facilities.

Twenty-four students were also recognized for dual enrollment credit in the Early Childhood Education program at the Tennessee Technology Center at Nashville.  Julie Jackson with the Tennessee Technology Center at Nashville was present to award the certificates.

HILLSBORO SCHOOL

Congratulations to all of the students who received recognition May 16 at Hillsboro School's first annual Band Bash.  Pictured below are the students who won awards at this year's event.

Paul Dorsten and Christine Barham received the Director's Award at the Hillsboro Band Bash.  They are pictured with Band Director Cameron Gish.  These students embody the principles of the Hillsboro Band. Pictured above are the students who were named Outstanding Musicians for their grade level.  Students were awarded honors in woodwind, percussion and brass.

The Overall winners are pictured above.  These students were honored for excellence throughout the year, regardless of grade level.  Students were recognized for Outstanding Musicianship, Jazz Achievement, and Esprit de Corps, among others.




INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL

Congratulations to the Declaration Singers from Independence High Sschool for winning their second Grand Championship with a score of 99.5 percent at the Atlanta Music Festival Competition.

They also won First Place Show Choir, Outstanding Tenor Section, Outstanding Tenor - Cameron Lucente, Outstanding Accompanists: Sam Emery – drums/banjo/organ, Nick Elder- guitar and Michael Meadows – bass guitar.  The Declaration Singers are under the direction of MaryLee Atenhan




PAGE HIGH SCHOOL
Congratulations to the Page High School girls tennis team for winning the Sectional Championship.  They rallied to come back and defeat Hume Fogg by a score of 4-3 to win the title.  In addition, Makenna Hart and Brenna Minyard won the Regional championship in doubles by beating Marshall County 8-4.

Congratulations to the Page High School Health Science Emergency Medial Services (EMS) students who completed the First Responders Certification training as an integrated part of the EMS course.  These students plan to take the First Responders certification exam to earn their certification.

PAGE MIDDLE SCHOOL

Allison Fikejs

Congratulations to Page Middle School student Allison Fikejs.  Allison's poem was selected to be published in an annual student anthology titled Award-Winning Young Writers of America 2012.

The book will be published in August and Allison will be entered to win a prize including an Ipod Touch, Xbox 360, Kindle Fire or cash prizes.



RAVENWOOD HIGH SCHOOL

Congratulations to the Ravenwood High School rugby team.  They defeated Father Ryan 6-5 to win their first Division I Cup.  Their coach is Richard Boone; assistant coaches are Eddie Buckner, Mark Vanston and Mark Williams.



SUNSET MIDDLE SCHOOL

Congratulations to Jacqueline Hughes' sixth grade Navy Math Olympiad team for being named to the National Math Olympiad Honor Roll for its score of 185 points.  Only teams in the 90th percentile or higher receive this award.  They were among nearly 150,000 students worldwide to participate this year.  Their teacher is Jacqueline Hughes, and their gifted consultant is Chris Harrod.  Team members include:
