Congratulations to Bethesda Elementary School fifth grader Alex Martin for winning second place in the Engineering Division of the regional/Middle Tennessee 4H speech competition.

Congratulations to Brentwood High School student Akash Oza for finishing first place in Tennessee on the National Spanish Exam Level 3.

Congratulations to Brentwood High School student Emily Reeves for finishing first place in Tennessee on the National Spanish Exam Level 2.



BRENTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL

Congratulations to the following Brentwood High School students for their performance at the Tennessee Junior Classical League convention in Murfreesboro.  The team won third place overall in the Sweepstakes Division AA.  Other honors include: 

  • Fifth Place, Certamen Intermediate B – team members: Erin Gurley, Jonathan St. Vincent and Iain Woodburn.
  • David Beier:  5th place Reading Comprehension.
  • Joyce Kang:  2nd place Derivatives, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Sculpture; 4th place Classical Art; 5th place Latin Literature, Photography.
  • Ellen Pelerossi: 5th place Vocabulary.

CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL

Palmer Smith

Congratulations to Centennial High School student Palmer Smith for receiving the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award, the Presidential Academic Excellence Award and the Centennial Award of Merit, the high school's most prestigious award.  Palmer will be attending Harvard University in the fall.

Congratulations to Centennial High School student Emily West for receiving the Rotary of Cool Springs Arlene Peterson Memorial Scholarship.

 

FRANKLIN HIGH SCHOOL

Ashley DePeri

Congratulations to Franklin High School junior Ashley DePeri.  She received a Silver Key award in the 2012 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for her short story The Christmas Gift.  Over 200,000 entries were submitted and only 820 works received awards.


 

FRANKLIN HIGH SCHOOL

Congratulations to Franklin High School students Zach Warrington, James Hallock, Lara Johnson and Rian Trotter for their success at the Western Kentucky Film Festival.

  • Zach Warring won Best Animation for Woodman’s Destiny.
  • James Hallock and Zach Warrington was nominated for Best Fiction for Robot: Love Does Not Compute.
  • Lara Johnson and Rian Trotter was nominated for Best Music Video for Cold Wild Yonder.

HUNTERS BEND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Congratulations to the Hot Shots Jump Rope team for their performance at the AAU Jump Rope Competition.  Ed Eubank, Jack Heimendinger, Anna Lapre, Sara Kathryn Smith, Lucy Eubanks, Grace Sparks, Davis Beasley and Carol Martinez all qualified for Jr. Olympics.  Ed Eubanks, Jack Heimendinger and Anna Lapre all won first place in their age groups.

Congratulations to Independence High School student Abby Sawyer for receiving the Rotary of Cool Springs Arlene Peterson Memorial Scholarship.  Abby will be attending the University of Tennessee at Knoxville to major in early childhood education.

Congratulations to Ravenwood High School freshman Gene Li for earning the Athena Gold Award of Excellence on the National Mythology Exam.  Li received a perfect score on the exam which is only open to freshmen.

Congratulations to Ravenwood High School student Aaron Mirtes for winning two awards at the Western Kentucky Film Festival.  Aaron won the Fiction category for his short film An Invitation and the Documentary category for Harpeth - Jogging These Walks of Life.
