WMS Students Grant Special Wish

Members of the Woodland Middle School's United Way Club recently made a local author's wish come true when they presented her with a special gift. Teresa Steiner is a Centennial High School graduate and a published author of a children's book. Born with cerebral palsy, Teresa must use a computer to generate speech.
In the fall, students in Woodland Middle School's United Way and STARS Club learned that Teresa was in need of a new computer which costs approximately $10,000. With the help of the WMS faculty, students and community members, the club raised more than $3,000 to cover the computer's 20% co-pay.
In December, several of the students who helped raise the money surprised Teresa with the good news at her home. Once it arrives, Teresa hopes the new computer will allow her to respond quicker and also assist her in the writing of her second book.
