Students Donate Shoes to Needy

Published October 28, 2010

Students at Sunset Middle School recently donated nearly 1,000 pairs of shoes to the needy.  The collection began October 4 and lasted for nearly two weeks as students collected gently-worn shoes for Soles4Souls, an organization that donates footwear to the less fortunate.

Each morning before school, Sunset Middle School students manned a table to collect the shoes while home rooms competed to see which one brought in the most shoes.  When the competition ended October 15, Sue Hopper's seventh-grade homeroom had collected the most.  In all, the school donated 985 pairs of shoes to Soles4Souls.
