Shining Apple Awards

The top volunteers of Williamson County Schools will be honored during the fourteenth annual Shining Apple Awards ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Franklin High School.  Honorees in each of five categories will be recognized for service to the students of Williamson County during the event sponsored by the Williamson County YMCA Fun Company and the Williamson County Board of Education.

“We greatly appreciate the service our volunteers provide to our students and schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney.  “And we know that Williamson County Schools would not experience the success that we do without them.  The Shining Apple Awards is a wonderful way to hear a sampling of what our volunteers contribute day in and day out and a way for us to say thank you.”

Volunteers being honored in the Business and Industry category include Alexander Toyota serving Centennial High; Design 1 Hair Care serving Fairview, Pinewood and Westwood elementary schools; Longhorn Steakhouse serving Brentwood High; Publix serving Sunset Elementary; and Sonic Drive In serving the school district.

Civic Organizations being recognized are Covenant Baptist Church serving Spring Station Middle; Kids on Stage Foundation serving Hillsboro Elementary and Middle; GraceWorks Ministries serving Page High; Friends Learning in Pairs serving Trinity Elementary;  and Vanderbilt ROTC serving Grassland Elementary.

Community Volunteers to be honored are Carolyn Harris serving Pearre Creek Elementary; Dorothy Jones serving Pinewood Elementary; Dave Orr serving Franklin High; John Shane serving Ravenwood High; and Patty Young serving Trinity Elementary.

Staff as a Volunteer honorees include Stacie Ballard, Ravenwood High; Susie Bonner, Kenrose Elementary; Liz Cowan, Chapman's Retreat Elementary; Sandy Stephens, Kenrose Elementary; and Pam Trolinger, Edmondson Elementary.

Elementary school parents being honored for their service include Liz Cramer, Winstead; Shelley Dunn, Nolensville; Lucie Logan, Trinity; Dawn Wilkerson, Nolensville; and Christa Williams, Hunters Bend.

Middle school parents being recognized include Carole Corley, Hillsboro; Sallie Green, Sunset; Karen Hord, Fairview; Julie Meadows, Heritage; and Anne Weinberg, Page.

High school parents include Bob Bass, Centennial; Sonya Cesnik, Page; Janie Garrett, Middle College; Leigh Rankin, Ravenwood; and Bret Teegarden, Brentwood.

Review teams selected the honorees.  Members include Pat Anderson, Tim Brown, Tracy Bullard, Rebecca Collins, Jack Daniels, Amanda Eubanks,  Ann Gordon, Susan Graham, Rebecca Hagan, Merilee Heidrich, Cyndy Howes, Renee King, Barbara Marquardt, Barb Mayo, Janice Mills, Janine Moore, Vicki Vogt, Barry Watkins and Tammy Wilson.
