Rumor Mill-4727

The purpose of this section is to answer any questions parents, teachers or community members might have regarding the school district and to set the record straight in regards to any rumors that might be circulating. If you have a question or have heard a rumor that you would like for us to address, simply SEND US your questions and we will respond to them in upcoming issues of IN FOCUS. Below are some of the questions we received since our last newsletter. How many snow days has the district used so far this school year? As of February 17, the district has used a total of nine inclement weather days this school year. A total of 10 days were built into the 2010-11 calendar which means there is one inclement weather day remaining. If more than 10 days are missed due to weather-related conditions, each individual day will be made up at the end of the school year, or as decided by the Board of Education. What’s the difference between ParentConnection and Connect Ed? ParentConnection is the online system where you can see your child’s class assignments and grades. Connect Ed is our district phone notification system. All student contact information for the call outs, including those from Williamson County Schools Communications Director Carol Birdsong, comes from the school. That's why it is extremely important that the information each school has is accurate. Parents should contact their school's attendance secretary to update their child’s information. In the last Rumor Mill, it was mentioned that students at Spring Station Middle School and Summit High School will ride the same bus next year. Does that mean that students in grades 6-12 will ride the same bus at the same time? Or will students in grades 6-8 be picked up at a different time from the students in grades 9-12? For Spring Station Middle and Summit High, students in grades 6–12 will ride the bus together. Buses are also routed this way due to school proximity for Page Middle and Page High, Brentwood Middle and Brentwood High, Fairview Middle and Fairview High and Woodland Middle and Ravenwood High students. It is also fair to say that only a small number of upper-classmen utilize bus transportation. |
