RHS Names New Baseball Coach

Veteran coach Teddy Craig has been named the head varsity baseball coach at Ravenwood High School. Craig has been coaching high school baseball for 19 years.

"I have never been so excited about a coaching job as this one,” said Craig. “I have wanted to be a part of the Ravenwood community for several years. The combination of academics and athletics makes Ravenwood a special place. I'm looking forward to meeting the kids and beginning our journey towards excellence."

Craig began his coaching career at his alma mater Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Florida. He spent four years at Winter Park serving as the head JV coach and assistant varsity coach. The team compiled a 95-31 record during his tenure as well as three district titles. The team participated in the state playoffs three of the four years he was there.

Craig accepted his first head coaching position in 1996 at West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida. During this six year tenure, West Orange compiled a 141-46 record and Craig was named Central Florida Coach of the Year in the Orlando Metropolitan Conference in 1998, 2001, and 2002. West Orange won three conference championships and qualified for the state playoffs four times.

In 2002, Craig and his family relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee where he became the head coach at East Ridge High School. In his first year, he lead East Ridge to their first winning season in over a decade. The team won the regular season conference title with a 9-1 conference mark and Craig was named District 6 AA Coach of the Year. He finished his two year reign with a 35-24 record.

In 2004, Dalton High School in Dalton, Georgia offered Craig the Head Coaching Position. He accepted since it was just across the state line. During his three year stay, Dalton qualified for the state playoffs in 2007, the first time since 2000. He coached the Georgia team in the 2005 and 2006 Georgia-Tennessee All-Star Baseball Game. He compiled a 41-36 record in his three years.

In 2007, the Craig family moved to Williamson County. The reputable school system was a huge factor in the move. Since the move, he has served as the assistant coach at Davidson Academy the last four years where the team reached the state championship game in back to back years. The team was 98-49 during his time with three state playoff appearances.
