Receive WCS Tweets Via Text Message

Published September 2, 2010

Staying informed of all the latest news regarding school closures, district events and other WCS happenings is easier than ever. Williamson County Schools’ new Twitter page is a great source of district information, allowing users to receive tweets via text message.

If you’d like to follow WCS on Twitter and do not have a Twitter account of your own, simply go to http://twitter.com/ and sign up for a Twitter page. The service is free and simple to complete. Once you have an account, you can begin following WCS at http://twitter.com/wcsedu.

If you would like to receive each WCS tweet via text message, there are a few more steps you will need to complete.

  • Make sure your phone plan has unlimited text messages. If not, you could be charged for each text message you receive.
  • Text the word START to 40404.
  • Twitter will text you back asking for your username.
  • Once you have sent your username, Twitter will ask for your password (remember passwords are case sensitive).
  • Twitter will then ask you to text OK if you want to use Twitter on your phone. Send OK.
  • Now that your phone is linked to your Twitter account, you will need to send a text message from your mobile phone to 40404 with the words: ON wcsedu.
  • Once you have done this, you will begin receiving tweets from Williamson County Schools via text message.
