The district's newest elementary school now has a principal. Dr. Laura LaChance has been named principal of the new Clovercroft Elementary School which is set to open in August. Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney made the announcement January 14. "Opening a school is not an easy task,” said Looney. “Laura is an experienced educator and a proven leader who is a perfect fit for the Clovercroft community.” |
LaChance has served as principal of Heritage Elementary School since 2008. Before that, she was the assistant principal at Crockett and Oak View elementary schools. While she's exited to begin her new duties at Clovercroft, LaChance says she will miss being part of the Heritage community. "This is a bitter-sweet time for me," said LaChance. "Heritage has been my home for the last three years and it is such an incredible community. At the same time, I am excited about building new relationships and ties with the Clovercroft students, parents and staff. I look forward to working with the parents and students as we orchestrate a learning community that speaks to our collective dreams and desires." LaChance received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Auburn University, her Master’s in Education from the University of Saint Mary, and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Capella University. |
Dr. David Allen will serve as principal at Heritage Elementary. |
A veteran educator from Ohio has been tapped to replace Dr. LaChance at Heritage Elementary School. Dr. David Allen comes to Williamson County from Mason City Schools. “Heritage Elementary and Williamson County Schools are benefiting from the fact that David and his family wanted to make the move South from Ohio,” said Looney. “He has a wealth of knowledge to bring to the district from his experiences at all levels in the field of education.” |
Allen began his teaching career in 1995 as an elementary school science teacher. He has served as an elementary school assistant principal, high school assistant principal and high school principal. In 2009, Allen was named Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for Mason City Schools. "I am very excited to have this opportunity with Williamson County Schools," said Allen. "Williamson County is known nationwide for academic excellence and I look forward to working alongside such a talented staff and moving my family to a community that's dedicated to providing great opportunities to kids." Allen earned his Bachelor's in Education from Ohio University in 1995, his Master's in Educational Administration from the University of Cincinnati in 2000, and his Doctorate in Urban Educational Leadership and Human Resources from the University of Cincinnati in 2004. Both administrators will begin their new duties January 31. |
