Page Middle Fights Air Pollution
Published June 9, 2011
Students at Page Middle School are learning how to "clear the air" with the help of a recent statewide contest. The school recently won $500 for finishing second in the Tailpipe Terror competition.
It's all part of a statewide initiative called Clear the Air Tennessee, which was designed to educate students and parents about the negative effects of air pollution.
In February, middle schools across the state were invited to participate in an online video game where students answer trivia questions about pollution.
Not only did Page Middle finish second in the school division, but Page Middle School student Connor James Stephens won first place in the individual division, winning $250.
The Clean the Air Tennessee campaign is in the process of developing the next stage of the competition, but until then, Tailpipe Terror is still open for everyone to play and learn ways to contribute to clearing the air in Tennessee. Find the game at www.tailpipeterror.com, and visit www.cleartheairtn.org for more info on how you can contribute.
