Published May 12, 2011

Oak View Elementary has a new principal. Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney announced Dr. Tom Morris as the leader of the school May 11. Morris replaces Denise Goodwin who was named Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools earlier this year.

“Tom will get to know each Oak View student and base his decisions on what’s best for each one,” said Looney. “He is a seasoned educator and his knowledge and experience will serve the community well.”

Morris comes to Oak View from Mason City Schools in Mason, Ohio, where he serves as the Director of Student Services, supervising special education, school nurses, attendance and more.

“I am thrilled to become a member of the Oak View school community, and I am eager to meet the staff, students and families of Oak View,” said Morris. “My personal motto is 'Every Student Every Day' and I am committed to the success of each child who attends Oak View Elementary School.”

Morris began his career in education in 1983 and has served as a high school teacher, assistant principal, athletic director and principal until August, 1997. He served as principal of Mason Heights Elementary School for seven years before moving to the Mason City Schools central office in 2004.

Morris earned his doctorate, master’s degree and bachelor’s degree all from Miami University. He will begin his new role July 1.
