New Changes for IN FOCUS

Published July 21, 2011

Parents have until Friday, July 29 to pick up their child's individual TCAP Achievement Test results. The scores were returned to local schools this month and are available for pick-up between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Test results that are not picked up before July 29 will be sent home after school starts in August.

According to preliminary data, Williamson County students have plenty to be proud of this year. WCS ranked first district-wide in achievement in the areas of reading, social studies and science, and finished second in math. While there's always room for improvement, administrators say the results are proof that WCS teachers have responded to the challenge of the new State standards.

"I am so proud of our teachers and students," said WCS Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. "Our scores show that Williamson County is the highest achieving school district in Tennessee. Our work will continue as we strive for all of our students to master the State standards and as we work toward our goal of 100 percent proficient and advanced."
