Leffler Named GMS Principal

Published June 23, 2011

Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney has named Ravenwood High School Assistant Principal Dr. Lily Leffler as the new principal at Grassland Middle School. Leffler fills the position left vacant by Dr. Susan Curtis who will retire June 30.

"Lily has great expectations for Grassland Middle students and the school community,” said Looney. “Another advantage for Lily is that she already knows so many of the Grassland families, from her six years at Franklin High. She is familiar with the community and their academic potential.”

Leffler began her career in Williamson County Schools as an assistant principal at Franklin High in 2002. She also taught fifth and sixth grade science and social studies for six years in Metro Nashville Public Schools.

“I am so excited to be joining the Grassland community," said Leffler. "The strong school-parent partnerships in existence and the commitment to academic excellence will no doubt be an integral part in helping to create a Grassland Professional Learning Community. I am looking forward to a great 2011-2012 school year and cannot wait to get started.”

Leffler holds a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Belmont University; a Master’s in Educational Leadership/Administration from Trevecca Nazarene University and an Ed.D in Leadership and Professional Practice also from Trevecca Nazarene University. She will begin her new role on Friday, July 1, 2011.
