Construction Update

Published October 28, 2010

Construction is moving right along at the site of the district's two newest schools. Summit High School in Spring Hill and the new elementary school on Clovercroft Road are scheduled to open in time for the start of the 2011-2012 school year.

Clovercroft Road area elementary

Crews at the new Clovercroft area elementary school have made substantial progress in recent weeks. In the last 30 days, construction crews have completed footings in the E, F, B and D wings. They have also completed the foundation block walls in the E and F wings and plan to finish the underground utilities in those same two wings in the coming days.

"Construction at the new elementary school on Clovercroft Road is right on schedule," said WCS Facilities and Construction Director Kevin Fortney. "Fortunately, we've been able to take advantage of the favorable weather and maintain an aggressive schedule."

Summit High School

At Summit High School in Spring Hill, crews are busy with the interior finishes. In the coming weeks, they will continue hanging and finishing drywall, setting window frames and flushing the school's geothermal wells. In addition, workers will begin installing sidewalks on the south side of the site and finish the visitors' grandstands.

Construction on Summit High is expected to be completed in May, 2011. Anyone wishing to learn more about the school can visit the school's WEBSITE.
