Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney has named longtime Oak View Elementary Principal Denise Goodwin as Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools. Goodwin fills the position left vacant when Jane Franks retired in January.
“Denise is well respected not only in the Oak View community but among her peers,” said Looney. “She is recognized as a leader who is passionate about taking our district to the next level. I believe we can do great things for boys and girls in our elementary schools under her leadership.”
Goodwin began her career in Williamson County Schools as a physical education teacher at Bethesda Elementary 19 years ago. After one year at Bethesda, she joined the teaching staff of Oak View when its doors opened. She served as assistant principal at Oak View and has served as principal there for the past decade.
“The opportunity to serve Williamson County Schools, in this capacity, is very exciting,” said Goodwin. “It has always been and continues to be an honor for me to work for Williamson County Schools. It is my belief that we have the highest caliber of professional administrators, teachers and support staff anywhere, whose primary focus has always been on how to best serve students. I look forward to the continued work with all stakeholders on behalf of students.”
Goodwin began her new role on Monday, February 28.
