HILLSBORO K-8

Courtney Basake

Conscientious, hard-working and tenacious.  Those are just a few words teachers have used to describe 14 year-old Courtney Basak, who was chosen as Hillsboro School's Academic All-Star for the 2010-11 school year.

"Courtney's work ethic is outstanding," said teacher Rennae Chapman.  "She not only cares about completing her work, but also completing the work with a great deal of quality."

In addition to making the grades, teachers say Courtney has been a positive influence on her classmates.  "Courtney is a model student behaviorally," said math teacher Kenneth Johnson.  "She is a great help to teachers in maintaining order in the class by not allowing other students to distract her learning."

Now an eighth grader, Courtney has attended Hillsboro since kindergarten.  She says she looks forward to attending Franklin High School in the fall.  As for what she might do beyond high school, Courtney says she has it all planned out.

"I really want to be an interior designer when I grow up," said Courtney.  "I have a passion for organizing and decorating and picking out colors and patterns."
