FAIRVIEW ELEMENTARY

Elizabeth Bulay

Fourth grade student Elizabeth Bulay is Fairview Elementary School's Academic All-Star for the 2010-2011 school year.  Principal Joan Tidwell says Elizabeth is a model student both in and out of the classroom.

"Elizabeth excels in all areas of her education," said Tidwell.  "She recognizes the value of an education and takes ownership of her learning.  In addition to that, Elizabeth has a kind, helpful and gentle heart."

In addition to speaking English, Elizabeth is also fluent in Ukrainian - her parent's native language.  According to her teachers, Elizabeth plays a huge role in translating English to Ukrainian within her family.

When it comes to her time at Fairview Elementary School, Elizabeth says there are two things she enjoys the most: her teachers and her friends.  As for when she grows up, Elizabeth says she would like to one day be a nurse.

FAIRVIEW MIDDLE

Jordan Fisher

Eighth grader Jordan Fisher is Fairview Middle School's Academic All-Star.  According to his teachers, Jordan was chosen for this honor because of his outstanding work ethic.

"Jordan is one of the hardest working students I have," said history teacher Matthew Conrad.  "He always has a smile on his face."

Jordan's science teacher, Nancy Gilbert agrees.  "Jordan works hard at all times," said Gilbert. "He always gives his best effort."

When he's not in school, Jordan likes to spend time outdoors.  And while he's not yet sure what he wants to be when he grows up, Jordan says he'll continue to keep working hard in the classroom.

"I like doing well in school," said Jordan.  "It makes me feel really good to see my hard work pay off."

FAIRVIEW HIGH

Peyton Abernathy

Fairview High School junior Peyton Abernathy is the school's Academic All-Star for the 2010-2011 school year.  Principal Tony Donen says Peyton is the kind of student every teacher would love to have.

"Peyton is always pushing herself to work at a high level," said Fairview High Principal Tony Donen.  "Teachers love having Peyton in class as she is a joy to teach."

The sixteen-year-old has plenty to keep her busy.  In addition to being dual enrolled in a speech class at Columbia State, Peyton is taking AP English III, AP U.S. History, Honors Pre-Calculus and Honors Spanish II to name a few.  Outside of school, Peyton runs track and participates in high school rodeo.

After graduation, Peyton hopes to attend Vanderbilt University and study either civil engineering or business.
