Several Williamson County students demonstrated their mathematical prowess at the annual UT Pro2Serve math competition in Knoxville.  The contest was held October 27 to promote interest in mathematics among Tennessee high school students and encourage them to pursue careers in mathematics, science and engineering.

Out of 592 students in 47 different high schools, Yebei Lin from Brentwood High School; John Burnum, Michael Fox, Joohun Lee and Linda Xu of Franklin High School; and Daniel Choi from Ravenwood High School received an award for placing in the top 50 on the Fermat I test.

Another test was given to those 50 students to compete for ten four-year scholarships to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  Michael Fox, Daniel Choi and Yebei Lin placed in the top 10 on the Fermat II test and each received a four year scholarship to the university.

In addition, the Franklin High School Math Bowl team took second place out of 64 teams.  The team consists of Parker Evans, Landon Shipley, John Burnum and Michael Fox.
