Superintendent Meets with PTO Presidents

Published February 4, 2010

PTO Presidents from across the county gathered this week for a quarterly meeting with Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney.  The sessions provide an opportunity for sharing district information with parent leaders and principals, and they also give parents the opportunity to ask questions of district leadership.  The groups covered topics ranging from fundraising to insurance to zoning to next year’s budget.

Sunset Elementary PTO President Leslie Murray says having these meetings quarterly are helpful because parent leaders have to deal with a wide range of topics.  “I appreciate all of the information,” said Murray.  “I feel I’m more informed and we (PTO Presidents) are the people that parents come to.”  Murray said that she also likes having input regarding the content of the meeting.  “I appreciate Dr. Looney seeking input ahead of time in putting together the topics that are covered,” said Murray.

The PTO Presidents will meet again in April and they will be asked to bring the school’s incoming president to the session.
