Students Star in Census PSA
Published March 4, 2010
Do you count? That's the question students at Woodland Middle School are asking in a new public service announcement regarding the 2010 Census. Members of Margie Chaney's eighth grade performance choir class wrote and starred in the PSA, which will air on local cable access channels during the months of March and April.
The public service announcement is among several that were unveiled Thursday, March 4, during a special screening in Franklin. Their purpose is to encourage members of the Williamson County community to participate in the 2010 Census and explain why it's important for the county.
At Woodland Middle School, a group of students in Margie Chaney's performance choir class jumped at the chance to be part of this special effort. According to Chaney, the kids used their own imagination and creativity to develop the idea for the video, which included some dancing, rapping and beat-boxing.
"We appreciate the opportunity to do something like this," said Chaney. "I've got an incredibly talented and imaginative group of kids this year. We had so much fun making the video, and I’m immensely proud of all the students involved."
