Shining Apple Awards Honor Top WCS Volunteers

The top volunteers of Williamson County Schools will be honored during the fourteenth annual Shining Apple Awards ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Franklin High School.  Honorees in each of five categories will be recognized for service to the students of Williamson County during the event sponsored by the Williamson County YMCA Fun Company and the Williamson County Board of Education.  The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the ceremony at 6:15 p.m.

Volunteers being honored in the Business and Industry category include Cadence Bank serving Franklin High; First Image, Inc. serving Heritage Middle; Fowler Orthodontics serving Winstead Elementary; Publix, Fieldstone Farms, serving Grassland Elementary and Hunters Bend Elementary; and Publix, Concord Road, serving Sunset Elementary and Sunset Middle.

Civic Organizations being recognized are Cowles Chapel United Methodist Church serving Bethesda Elementary; Brentwood Morning Rotary serving Ravenwood High; Franklin Police Department serving Independence High; Kiwanis Club serving Heritage Elementary and Heritage Middle; and United Way serving Fairview High.

Community Volunteers to be honored are Mary Clouse serving Woodland Middle; James Howard serving Trinity Elementary; Carol Lindberg serving Bethesda Elementary; Lanny McGowen serving Sunset Middle; and Anne Williams and Lily serving Scales Elementary.

Teachers as Volunteers honorees include Tonya Lewis, Ravenwood High; Craig Madole, Sunset Middle; Melissa Skinner, Scales Elementary; Alejandra Solano, Heritage Elementary; and Lyndsay Younkin, Kenrose Elementary.

Elementary school parents being honored for their service include Janice Boren serving Fairview; Polly Diggs serving Kenrose; Kim Elliott serving Westwood; Lisa Johnson serving Grassland; and Jennifer McMillan serving Lipscomb.

Middle school parents being recognized include Robin Baldree serving Page; Steve Bennett serving Heritage; Lori Brooks serving Page; Jenny Ferrell serving Fairview; and Dean and Kim Sams serving Hillsboro.

High school parents include Gayle Cromwell serving Independence; David Gadd serving Ravenwood; Kathy Gill serving Brentwood; Margit Nentwig serving Franklin; and Jenny Shane serving Ravenwood.
