Ravenwood Fine Arts Academy

Published May 13, 2010

Ravenwood High School now has its own Fine Arts Academy.  The Academy is open to students in ninth through twelfth grades who are interested in taking fine arts classes throughout high school and beyond.  A group of teachers came up with the idea as a way to indentify these students and provide them with supplemental arts opportunities throughout the school year.

The Academy's first Master Class Series was a workshop held in April.  The students and teachers came together to work with Myles Maillie, one of Nashville's most recognizable and enduring artists.  Together, they created a large mural painted on boxes, which is now displayed in the front of the school.

The Fine Arts Academy will be planning a variety of Master Classes in the future, including dance, music, and acting workshops. For more information about the Ravenwood Fine Arts Academy, contact Ravenwood Fine Arts Department Chair, Kari Smith.
