Two veteran administrators will be moving to new schools for the 2010-2011 school year.
Dr. Tim Brown has been appointed the principal at Sunset Middle. Brown has served as principal at Sunset Elementary for the past two years. Prior to that, he was assistant principal at Page High and a science teacher and an assistant principal at Brentwood Middle.
In addition, he has taught at the elementary and middle school levels in Kentucky and Tennessee. Brown also served nine years as an officer in the U.S. Army, and he is a veteran of Desert Storm.
“It is with great excitement that I return to my middle school background. The majority of my career has been spent in middle school,” said Brown. “I will miss the elementary students but I am leaving them in very capable hands, and I will get to work with them as they continue their education at the middle school level.”
Josie Jacobs will be the new Sunset Elementary principal. Jacobs is coming from Page Middle School where she has been the principal since the 2006-07 school year. Prior to that time, she opened Winstead Elementary as the principal in 2002. She began with Williamson County Schools in 1989 as a teacher. Prior to that, she served as principal at three schools in Nashville.
“The Williamson County School System has offered me many wonderful opportunities, and I have cherished each experience and have grown and become more appreciative of who we are as a county and what we are attempting to accomplish for our students and community,” said Jacobs.
“I asked to move back to the elementary school for it is the joy of knowing the children during those formative years, the curriculum, the family-like atmosphere and the challenge of overseeing the growth and development of young children into loving, caring and responsible adults who love to learn.”
